About The Blog

Some things take a long time to materialise for me. One is experiencing the joy that only a free man can feel and the other is starting a blog. It seems very strange that a person who spends much time reading, contemplating and writing should be wary of blogging. When I decided to harness a bit of cyber space for my thoughts, my good friend Faezah said, ‘Finally’.

I call this space, ‘living life as it is’ …….sort of a spin off from my descriptor in my fortnightly column in The New Straits Times, Malaysia. Now that I have a little more time to pursue the things that matter, I hope it can be a legacy that I can leave behind for the people I love and care for: my family and friends.

Why do I want to live life as it is?

Deborah Kerr in the movie An Affair to Remember says "Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories ...we've already missed the spring."

Meg Ryan repeats these same lines in ‘Sleepless in Seattle’. I do not want to be caught in the web of the past and miss the moments of the present.

I saw Shawshank Redemption at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin and this quote struck a chord in me.
‘ I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.' - Ellis Boyd 'Red' Redding

Like the two Italian ladies singing, I would like my articles to mean something to someone.

Thank you
